Extension Centennial Lunch and Learns

- UF/IFAS Extension Polk County will host its next open lunch-and-learn at the Bartow History Center and will discuss “Getting Outdoors: Connecting to Polk’s Environment”. 


First Friday Downtown Lakeland

Venue:  Downtown Lakeland
- Every month, on the first Friday monthly, people from all over converge in Downtown Lakeland for an evening of free family-friendly entertainment, activities, live music, art receptions, a car show, and the opportunity to check out a great, locally-owned restaurant or retail establishment.


First Friday Nature Walks

Bok Tower Gardens, Lake Wales
- Join the Gardens’ staff experts for birding, conservation, garden, trail and wildlife walks.
- During each, you’ll learn about the seasonal blooms in the garden, new conservation projects, migrating and nesting birds and animals, and natural Florida habitats.


Painter Lin Yang at The Loft Art Gallery
Date: Friday, August 1
Venue: The Loft Art Gallery, Lakeland
- Lin Yang’s portrait and still-life paintings capture the beauty she sees in daily life and the works of fellow artists.
- A free reception with live music, wine and hors d’oeuvres is scheduled for August’s First Friday.


Lakeland Boat Show

Venue: The Lakeland Center
- The Lakeland Boat Show will feature a vast selection of new boats, along with boating accessories, fishing gear and much more.
- The Captain Joe Fishing School will hold classes throughout the show.


Historic Cemetery Tour

Oak Hill Cemetery, Bartow
Join the Polk County History Center on a walking tour of the Historic Oak Hill Cemetery in Bartow where many pioneer families were laid to rest including Civil War veterans Jacob Summerlin and General Evander M. Law.


Book Club at Polk County History Center

Venue: Polk County History Center, Bartow
- The book club at the Polk County History Center meets on the first and second Tuesdays monthly.
- The next book club meeting will feature a reading of Zora Neale Hurstons’ play, “Polk”.
